Staff Spotlight ‘22: Gabi Bruckner

The first Staff Spotlight goes to the first PR Agent brought on by WTF Publicity. Gabi Bruckner has been with me since month 2 or 3 of starting WTF and came on board as a blessing in disguise. When I first started WTF, I had no idea that business would come in so quickly. I had assumed I would need to work several jobs until this company was going to grow – but growth happened so fast at the start! I immediately knew I couldn’t handle it alone and needed someone by my side.

When I met Gabi, she reminded me of myself when I first started in the music industry. Gabi is smart, driven, and creative, and she has the right “fuck off and laugh” attitude we publicists need to get by this business. She worked for WTF and led some of our largest campaigns while finishing her Master’s degree in Digital Marketing – and she GRADUATED THIS YEAR!!!

Gabi listed some of her accomplishments below, but I need to shout out more. This girl has worked with nearly every genre under the sun, gotten independent artists featured in OkayPlayer and NPR, secured numerous incredible artist features, and has a knack for working with female and LGBTQIA+ artists. Gabi is my go-to for taking on campaigns from music collectives like 19th & 7th or ONErpm, and even started working with Fearless Records this year! She’s never afraid to step outside her comfort zone to take on unique campaigns and obscure genres – and she’s a QUEEN in the Philly Music Scene!

Proud and grateful are two words that come to mind when I think about Gabi. Here is a message from Gabi herself:

This year I was promoted to Senior Publicity Manager at WTF, which brought on even more responsibility than ever before. I got to manage a plethora of campaigns this year - working with a diverse range of clients across genre spectrums and different phases of their careers. From new artists emerging to the scene to artists coming back after a decade-long hiatus (did I mention I worked with The Higher?) - there were so many things to be proud of this year, so it's hard to boil it down to just a few. But here's some things that I think perfectly capture the different opportunities a publicist can make possible with just a little bit of elbow grease and caffeine.

I worked on my first-ever country album campaign with The Belle Curves in support of her amazingly written Watershed LP. I was absolutely blown away when Mike from 19th & 7th dropped this in my inbox. One thing's for sure: I'm always down for a challenge, so I was ecstatic to venture into unknown territory. I was able to land The Belle Curves on respected country outlets like The Boot, and got her CD in the hands of some very well-respected Americana reviewers. Moreover, I got to work with Fearless Records' NOT A TOY, and knowing how much the guys are into street style, I was able to snag the boys a partnership with the one and only Dr. Martens. And lastly, I love working with visual teams in creating something rad. So this year I reached out to Beatbites TV on behalf of the dopest hyper/industrial pop project - girl_irl. Em did a video interview and session at the Beatbites studio, and the edited visual perfectly captures girl_irl's brand (Gen Z to a T!). Shoutout to the Beatbites team for being a pleasure to work with on that one.

Excited to see what 2023 brings. Happy New Year ya'll!
